So, podcasts changed my life. Literally.
A little over a year ago, I discovered podcasts (I’m a little slow when it comes to technology). My podcast journey has evolved, and I’ve discovered so many inspirational podcasts that I want to share. In fact people close to me are at the eye rolling stage of hearing me mention yet another thing I learned from a podcast I listen to.
But I just love learning this way! Right now my life doesn’t have a lot of sit-down-and-focus reading time. All my sit-down-and-focus time is devoted to making jewelry or writing stuff like this. So getting information and inspiration while driving to work, or doing dishes, fits right in.
You might already know that I sometimes struggle things like... self doubt, overwhelm, confused direction, and a little depression and lack of motivation sprinkled in here and there. Fun times.
Here’s the thing about podcasts. They help me. I only listen to positive and inspirational ones. And if I’m feeling down, they sometimes can turn me around. This is HUGE! Also, I learn about business, health, get ideas, and tons of great information and inspiration. For free.
So, without further ado, here are my favorites, you should totally go check them out:
Here goes -
For my daily happy: Lewis Howes. Always positive. Interviews great guests who have done amazing things. Puts a smile on my face no matter what is happening in my surroundings or between my ears. Also, he’s adorable. Like seriously, if I were 20 years younger and lived in LA…
For health and wellness:
I have two. One. On air with Ella. Super informative about healthy foods, lifestyle changes and overall wellness. She interviews very well informed people, like doctors and other experts. But the best part is she’s totally real. NEVER preachy. She admits to not being perfect, not following rules, having that glass of wine and enjoying life. It feels like having a conversation with a friend.
Two. Bulletproof Radio with Dave Asprey. Kind of the opposite of Ella, but also really good. This guy kind of annoys me (sorry Dave, although I doubt you’ll read this) but I also think he might be a genius. He interviews amazing people who have done amazing things and I’ve probably learned the most from this podcast, more than any of the others. He can be a little preachy and annoying but I think he actually knows what he’s talking about. And bulletproof coffee has changed my life. But my whole coffee routine is another blog post, if you want to know about it.
Flourish and Thrive. Specifically for jewelry designers. This one is jam packed with helpful information about selling, production, promotion. I tell starting jewelry designers about this one all the time. They feature interviews with amazing people and it’s hosted by Tracy Matthews who has been successful in the jewelry business for decades so she herself knows a thing or two.
For entertainment: S-town. A short series that is a true story and riveting. I laughed and cried and then told everyone I knew about it. It’s only 7 episodes and it consumed me for a couple weeks while I listened, so good.
NPR actually has a news podcast that I’ve been meaning check out but I think I’m holding back because I’m worried about the impact that reality will have on my mental state, lol.
That’s it. Let me know if you like hearing about these, if you have any others to suggest, if you want to hear about other good podcasts as I find them, if you have anything else to tell me...
