Does it ever feel like everything is a big deal for you? Then some people in your life seem be super relaxed and easy going about things, even stressful ones?
This past week for me has been a doozy! It came to a crescendo yesterday as the BUSIEST day I've had all year.
4am - 10pm non-stop working, working, entertaining & entertaining. By the end of it I had turned into a version of myself that I'm not proud of.
So stressy and snippy and not fun to be around. I think it's safe to say even less fun to be.
I woke up this morning in a similar state. SO MANY THINGS TO DO. And everything feels like such a big deal. Heart racing, head hurting (result of last night's self medication) and mind spinning.
Luckily I had the good sense to give myself some ME time and go up my mountain.
On my mountain three things happened:
1. All the things that felt like such a big deal suddenly felt much more manageable. I swear, after all of these years, all of the times I've preached the power of taking a walk, it's still such a surprise how much it helps.
2. I thought about people who seem more relaxed and happy. What qualities to happy people have? One thing I came up with was curiosity. Curiosity about people, curiosity about places... curiosity and caring. Caring leads to connecting and connecting leads to more happiness.
3. I decided to take care of myself. I decided that I wasn't going to rush today. I texted someone and told them I'd be an hour later. I thought about the things I HAVE time to do, rather that all the things that won'r fit into the day. And I decided to let myself enjoy it all.
So my advice for you this week, if it all feels overwhelming, is this:
Go for a walk. Honestly, that's probably enough.
May it be lovely!
